About the Pastoral Family
Pastor Jonathan Olavarria, a Jersey City native, and First Lady Noemi Olavarria, originally from the Dominican Republic, have been devoted to ministry since their youth.
Meeting at Kean University, they combined their passions for education and faith, leading to impactful roles in both public schools and church leadership.
Married since 2012, they are proud parents of four and continue to serve together, guiding The Hub Church with love and dedication.
The Hub Church
In 2014, feeling led to plant a diverse and inclusive church, Pastor Jonathan and Noemi began preparations for what would become The Hub Church.
Officially launched on Easter 2016, the church welcomed 80 attendees and established a covenant membership of 22.
With a mission to make Jesus Christ known and His kingdom visible in Jersey City, The Hub Church embraces people from all backgrounds, reflecting the city's rich diversity.
A Ministry of Partnership and Vision
From the outset of their marriage, the Olavarrias have shared a unified vision for ministry. Starting as Youth Pastors in Hoboken, they expanded their roles to include pastoral care, outreach, and church administration. Their collaborative approach has been instrumental in nurturing leaders and fostering a community rooted in Christ's love.
Community Impact and Partnerships
The Hub Church actively engages with the community through small groups, outreach events, and partnerships with organizations like Jersey City Together and New City Kids.
Their initiatives, including food distributions and community dinners, aim to build a healthier, more connected community. Their commitment extends globally, supporting missionaries in Mozambique and Greece.
A Legacy of Love and Leadership
At the heart of The Hub Church is a commitment to love God and love people. Pastor Jonathan's guiding principle, “Win a soul for Jesus, not for The Hub,” encapsulates their mission-focused approach.
Together, the Olavarrias have cultivated a nurturing environment that empowers individuals to grow in faith and service, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
OUR VISION
Connect Deep. Grow Strong. Serve Bold. Go Empowered
CORE BELIEFS
We Believe...
The Bible is God's holy Word. It is inspired, true and trustworthy. The Bible is God's written revelation of Himself to mankind and our ultimate guide in all matters of living.
There is one True God, creator of all things, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed physical miracles, died on the cross to make up for the sins of the world, rose from the dead in bodily form, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return in power and glory.`
Men and women were created in the image of God. However, they willingly fell to sin-- ushering evil and death, both physically and spiritually, into the world.
Salvation is by grace through faith in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross; and that He died in our place. The believer’s sins are forgiven by the shedding of His blood.
The believer should continually be made holy through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. A born-again heart will manifest Fruit of the Spirit, restitution where possible, obedience, and holy living according to the Word of God.
The Holy Spirit is presently and actively ministering through Spirit baptism, spiritual gifts, divine healing and miracles to effectively render service to God, His church, and the world.
The Church is a global spiritual body composed of all true believers in Jesus Christ of men and women of all peoples, nations, cultures, and languages. Divinely empowered to proclaim the Good News of Jesus to the world. The Church should engage in fellowship, prayer, bible study and special ordinances such as Water Baptism, Communion and the Washing of the Saints' Feet. God has also called leaders within the Church to teach, equip, and guide believers into spiritual maturity.
Marriage is a sacred union, instituted by God, between a man and a woman for life. The biblical family is a father and mother in wedlock who may procreate children. Family homes should be guided by love, discipline, and the Word of God. Strong healthy families produce a strong and healthy society- broken families produce broken societies.
The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as he promised. Our eternal destination, of either Heaven or Hell, whether at death or during the Rapture, is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ. God has promised to create a new Heaven and a new Earth where the glory of God will dwell forever.
